The Czechoslovak 12th Helicopter Regiment, Olomouc
1962 - 1969


 




The 46th Transport Helicopter Airborne Division's two regiments was equipped with more than seventy Mi-4 helicopter in the late sixties. This is a significant force provided the Czechoslovak People's Army forces ensured a quick migration what that was demonstrated at the Vltava-66 practice.

In the late sixties the first copies of the new Mi-8T helicopter amphibious were planned to be deployed at the 12th Helicopter Regiment at. The regiment's selected pilots and technical staff traveled to the Soviet Union in 1969, where they were trained at Aeroflott to the Mi-8 type. The first copies of a squadron of Mi-8T's arrived at the regiment in 1969, which was settled at Prostějov airport at the time.
