Early metallic color Su-17M3 ‘Fitter-H’ fighter-bomber aircraft at the Soviet 314th air regiment

The Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft plant produced the Su-17M3 ‘Fitter-H’ fighter bomber aircraft from 1977. The factory made these early Su-17M3 serials (the 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th serials) in metallic color. These early serials arrived at the Soviet 760th Research-Instructor Mixed Air Regiment at Lipetsk and the 274th Fighter-Bomber Air Regiment at the Migalovo airport (from the Moscow Military District).

The 314th Fighter Bomber Air Regiment was established at Cherlyany airport with second-hand Su-7BM/BKL ‘Fitter-A’ supersonic bomber type in 1976. It was originally planned to be deployed for the Sino-Soviet border but later remained in the Soviet Carpathian Military District. In the late seventies, this regiment received the early Su-17M3 ‘Fitter-H’ from mixed serials from the 760th and the 274th regiments, replacing the old Su-7 ‘Fitter-A’ type.
